Meet Cinnamon Gray
Founder Bad Kitty Photography
Master Photographer, 1988 to Present
Author, The Kitty Sutra: Mastering the Art & Business of Boudoir
Cinnamon Gray is a Master Boudoir Photographer, educator, and author—but more than that, she is a woman who rebuilt an entire corner of the photography industry from the inside out.
Her story doesn’t start in a sunlit studio or with a polished brand. It starts in the late 1980s, working behind the lens in the men’s magazine world—an environment that was fast, demanding, and often disconnected from the women in front of the camera. It was there that Cinnamon learned lighting, composition, tech and the mechanics of capturing the female form—but it was also where she began to see the gap.
The images were strong. The women were beautiful. But something was missing.
Connection. Control. Consent in its truest form—not just agreement, but ownership.
So she left.
What followed wasn’t a rebrand. It was a quiet rebellion.
Cinnamon stepped away from an industry that often positioned women as subjects to be captured and began building something entirely different—a space where women could be seen, directed, and celebrated on their own terms. That vision became Bad Kitty Photography, a boudoir experience rooted not in performance, but in presence.
What she created wasn’t soft for the sake of being gentle. It was intentional. Grounded. Safe enough for vulnerability, structured enough for transformation.
Over the next three and a half decades, Cinnamon refined her approach across more than 100 cities, working with thousands of women from every walk of life. She became known for her ability to walk into any room—whether a luxury suite or a rented Airbnb—and create an environment where women could exhale, settle into themselves, and then rise into something powerful.
Her work holds a duality that mirrors who she is.
There is the authority—the woman who knows exactly where the light should fall, how the body should move, when to push, and when to pause. The one who can direct a room without raising her voice.
And then there is the softness—the barefoot-in-the-grass energy. The presence that allows a woman to feel safe enough to be seen without armor. The understanding that this work is not just about images, but about identity, memory, and reclaiming space in one’s own body.
Cinnamon doesn’t separate those two sides. She teaches from both.
That philosophy became the foundation of The Kitty Sutra: Mastering the Art & Business of Boudoir—a body of work designed to give photographers what she never had when she started: a clear, honest, and complete path forward.
Not just how to take a beautiful image—but how to lead a client through an experience.
Not just how to pose a body—but how to read it, respect it, and guide it.
Not just how to build a portfolio—but how to build a business that sustains you without compromising your values.
The Kitty Sutra is where Cinnamon steps out from behind the brand of Bad Kitty Photography and into her role as a teacher. Here, she speaks directly to photographers—new and seasoned—who are ready to stop guessing and start leading.
Her teaching style is grounded, direct, and deeply human. She doesn’t rely on trends, shortcuts, or inflated promises. Instead, she offers structure, clarity, and the kind of insight that only comes from doing the work—over and over, across years, across cities, across every kind of client imaginable.
She is both the woman who will tell you exactly what you’re doing wrong…
…and the one who will show you, patiently and clearly, how to do it right.
Today, Cinnamon Gray stands as both a pioneer and a guide—someone who has lived the evolution of boudoir photography and now teaches others how to do it with intention, integrity, and skill.
Because in her world, this work was never meant to exploit.
It was meant to elevate.
